What do you stand for? In this day and age it is difficult to say. You are bombarded everyday with what the world tells you you should believe and do. If you disagree, they want to come down hard on you and tell you why you’re wrong. Namely, you are wrong because your belief and ideas don’t go along with theirs.
I don’t know about you, but I liked it better when we respected one another, even though we might not have had the same beliefs. It was a good thing and sparked debates of trying to convince the other to see another way. However, if we still didn’t agree, we didn’t name call or try to destroy one another’s property.
I have never tried to push my beliefs off on others, but if you ask, I will share them with you. I have a couple of friends, and our beliefs and habits about everything, most of the time is completely opposite of each other. But you know what, in our spirited conversations, we each maintain our beliefs and our friendships.
We like our discussions, because we can talk about anything and know we will reminds friends who will try the next time to have a better more persuasive argument as to why the other should see our way of thinking.
It is important to stand up for what you believe, but don’t turn your back on family and friends because you believe your way of thinking is the only way and if others disagree, they are your enemies and must be destroyed.
Spirited debates are fun and educational. If you take the time to listen to one another, you each may learn from the other and be a much better person for it.
Until next time, take care. lw
