My friend, Leonor,winnig-an-award-01-13-17 asked me to be guest at her Toastmasters. I love Toastmasters and this club meeting was great.

If you don’t know about Toastmasters, I highly recommend you find a club in your area and visit their meeting. In fact, visit several clubs. They all do the same thing, but each club has it’s on personality and it’s a good idea to find the one you feel most comfortable with attending and perhaps becoming a member.

Most jobs recognize the importance of being a toastmaster and consider it a plus to have on your resume.

Toastmasters teach communications and leadership skills. People like Colin Powell and Harvey McKay have been toastmasters and look where it has gotten them.

I was asked to be an evaluator for my friend and I had the opportunity to participate in table topics.

Table topics is when you are a subject to speak on and you have 1 – 2 minutes to speak and make sense without any prior knowledge of what you will speak on.

An evaluator evaluates the speaker who is giving a prepared speech. You let the speaker know what you personally felt they did right and offer helpful suggestions for improvements. Others may see and hear the speech differently, but evaluation helps the speaker.

I was honored to have won the awards for best table topic speaker and best evaluator. The awards were presented to me by Past District Governor, Arun Singh.

I had a great time and encourage you to go investigate toastmasters and invest in your future. You want be sorry. You have everything to gain and nothing to lose.

Until next time, take care. lw
