I attended the Placer Women Network Meeting yesterday and met some truly amazing women. Everyone was exceedingly friendly and welcoming.
The members came up to each guest and introduced themselves to all the first time visitors and made us feel welcome and like VIP’s. We were even presented blue with blue flowers to wear for the day so all would know who the guests were.
The members asked questions and were genuinely interested in what we had to say. There were 14 first time visitors and I have a feeling that most if not all, will in up joining this networking group.
Of course all the gifts they raffled off I’m sure helped and they even raised money for a couple of charities. It is a great networking group to visit and give thought to becoming a member.
The main reason I went to the meeting, besides being invited by my friend Tonya Tyrus Parker, was to hear the speaker, Pat Gaucutan.
We were members in the Master Mind Toastmasters Club in the past. Pat has this wonderful gift of taking something simple and turning it into a very humorous speech with a powerful message and yesterday, she was on her “A” game.
She took the words, “Re-calculating,” and “You have reached your destination,” from the GPS system, to give us a very important message.
Pat reminded us that because you set a goal and your plans for reaching that goal, does not go as plan, you can re-calculate and find an alternative route for reaching your goal. You most likely will have many set backs and re-calculations, but that does not mean you have to give up. Try the new route and keep going.
Re-calculate your plans as often as necessary in order to reach your final destination. The message was powerful and the sense of humor she added to help on the journey made the trip that much better.
Pat is a wonderful speaker and I highly recommend you find out where she is going to speak next and make it your business to be there to hear her. You won’t be disappointed.
